The following is meant to be a list of instructions for users to maintain content on this site. It will be expanded as time permits.
Every page and portion of this site can be maintained through a web browser. In addition to having the correct permissions role assigned to you it is required that you have a user account and be logged in. The site is divided up into a Public Portal and Member Subsite. You must register your account on BOTH for now.
Permissions can be assigned down to the Module or Page Section level so that different users might have different "rights" on portions of a page.
To upload documents to the site.
For Documents posted to a "Repository" on a page. (NOTE DO NOT UPLOAD TO A REPOSITORY THAT BELONGS TO ANOTHER PAGE)
- Click on Upload. (or the pencil if editing an entry)
- IMPORTANT NOTE - You need to ensure you upload (“Resource URL”) to the appropriate File Location or things will go awry. For example CS uploads to "repository/CS/"
- The process could be a bit cleaner but it goes as follows:
- Type in a title
- Fill in all of the metadata including Category (let me know if you need different categories). Descriptions are optional.
- IF UPLOADING
- From the “Resource URL” Section
- Select “Link Type:” of “File”
- Change the file location to the appropriate repository via the drop down.
- Click Upload new file
- Click on the browse button that just appeared and a file browser will appear
- Select the file from your PC and click on Open
- The “Upload New File” link will now have changed to “Upload Selected File”
- Click Upload selected file.
- IF LINKING
- From the “Resource URL” Section
- Select “Link Type” of “URL”
- Specify the URL for the document you are linking to.
- OPTIONAL -If you have an image to represent the file use the Image Upload functionality in the same way as the “Resource URL” functionality. Otherwise a default image will be used.
- If you don’t want your email address shown uncheck the “show my email address” box
- Type in a description if you want
- Select one or many categories
- When done make sure you click Upload at the bottom of the page
- It should now be posted

To change the text on a page
Click on the manage button by the left hand corner of the section title and selecting “Edit Content”.
It works pretty much like a word processor although you can enter HTML source as well.
To insert images in your text that are hosted on this site you must have uploaded the image to some repository (See above) then click the insert image button and use the BROWSE SERVER Button to find your file. While each DSO has thier own respository there is a "General Purpose" SiteImages repository. For now this must be uploaded by District CS Staff.
To insert hyperlinks to files or pages in your text that are hosted on this site highlight the text to be linked and then click the insert hyperlink button and use the BROWSE SERVER Button to find your target.
FOR more detail on how to configure or change aspects of this site please see the DNN Admin Guide.
Where can I go to find out more about various DNN modules and how to use them. Go to DNN Forge. Documentation is typically listed in the Project Downloads.
