The National staff has also prepared and maintains a series of Templates for use in building Auxiliary websites Dynamic Web Templates (DWT) are available for smaller sites while the XML templates are recommended for larger sites. Components of the templates are pulled on the fly from National at load time which allows portions of sites developed using these templates to be updated by National without webmaster intervention. The DWTs can be utilized on the National AIRS server or elsewhere depending on where you have your site hosted. More information on the National templates are available here.
The D13 Staff recommends Microsoft Expression (For Web Development) and Filezilla (For FTP). Aptana is also available for free (For Web Development)
DWT procedure
- Download the Template files and User Guide
- Open the "index.php" code with a development tool like Expression Web, Visual Studio or with Notepad
- Update the text to reflect your flotilla information but do not change any code.
- Save and upload the files with an FTP client.
